Ras Al Khaimah has been named the newest addition to the Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), according to a statement from WAM.
The emirate’s Vision 2030 policy, which aspires to provide an inclusive education system for everyone, places a high priority on education.
The new membership demonstrates Ras Al Khaimah’s and the UAE’s commitment to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, “in part through enhancing education and enabling life-long learning among its people,” according to WAM, and is the result of ongoing efforts to prioritize education through the implementation of modern technologies.
“Ras Al Khaimah joining UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities is a distinguished global achievement for the emirate,” said by Ras Al Khaimah’s Executive Council’s Secretary-General Dr. Mohamed Abdullatif Khalifa.
In addition to Khalifa’s statements, “the new membership will allow the emirate to “share with the world its experience of consolidating education” across all sectors”.
In order to ensure an inclusive education system for all, education is a key component of Ras Al Khaimah’s Vision 2030 strategy. The emirate will gain from member cities’ experiences and contribute to the development of global education policies as a foundation for advancing human development and sustainability, according to Khalifa.
“The emirate is working to establish further programs aimed at enhancing training and education across multiple disciplines,” WAM said.
