President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued two federal decrees establishing the UAE Council for Fatwa and appointing Abdullah bin Bayyah as Chairman of the Council with the rank of Minister.
The UAE Council for Fatwa acts as the official authority for issuing fatwas in the country.
UAE Council for Fatwa
Its goal is to unify efforts, visions, and objectives to develop approaches, policies, and legislation related to fatwas in the United Arab Emirates.
The council is tasked with issuing general, urgent, and new fatwas on various subjects, conducting studies and research in different areas of fatwas, providing legal opinions on relevant legislation, licensing the practice of issuing fatwas, and training and enhancing the skills of muftis.
