NEOM has revealed advanced technology that allows travellers to utilise airport eGates autonomously, facilitated by biometric scanners and high-definition cameras in Saudi Arabia.
This week, Lieutenant General Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al Yahya, Director General of Passports (Jawazat), visited NEOM.
During his visit, Al Yahya, along with his delegation, toured NEOM Bay Airport, its command-and-control centre, and other key NEOM facilities, where they were received by NEOM CEO, Nadhmi Al Nasr.
At NEOM Bay Airport, Al Yahya learned about its latest technologies, including contactless eGates for passport control, which utilise high-resolution cameras to capture travellers’ biometrics.
This automated border control system, currently undergoing trials, aims to provide international visitors to NEOM with a seamless travel experience.
Saudi Arabia now joins a select group of countries investing in and offering travellers contactless automated border control systems at airports.
NEOM is collaborating with Jawazat, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), and the National Information Center, along with other government agencies, to develop its self-service eGate system.
The partnership between NEOM and Jawazat seeks to enhance knowledge sharing and improve the overall traveller experience.
Lieutenant General Al Yahya also visited the operations room at the 24/7 command-and-control centre, where he inspected NEOM’s integration of real-time analytics AI and predictive systems to enhance safety and security in NEOM’s residential communities.
