The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has partnered with e& money, the fintech arm of e&, to introduce a digital solution for wage payments to domestic workers. This collaboration aims to simplify salary transfers and ensure compliance with UAE regulations, contributing to the government’s goal of a cashless economy.
By integrating MOHRE’s Wage Protection System (WPS) into e& money’s platform, this initiative offers a seamless and secure method for employers to manage payments. The system will extend WPS’s coverage, traditionally used for private sector employees, to domestic workers, guaranteeing timely and regulated salary payments.
Improving Financial Accessibility for Workers
Dalal Alshehhi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Protection at MOHRE, commented, “This partnership reflects MOHRE’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights. By expanding our wage protection services through e& money, we are ensuring broader access to regulated and secure financial services for domestic workers.”
Melike Kara, CEO of e& money, added, “Our collaboration with MOHRE is about innovating financial accessibility to empower workers, support businesses, and foster trust across the financial ecosystem. We’re making salary management more efficient, inclusive, and secure through the integration of the WPS model.”
Enhancing Efficiency Through Digital Integration
The e& money app now offers employers a straightforward way to manage salary payments. Upon registration, users can access wage details and process payments quickly. The system ensures compliance by securely storing and documenting wage data in full integration with MOHRE.
Domestic workers are also empowered with an IBAN, a digital wallet, and a Mastercard prepaid card, enabling financial inclusion for a typically unbanked demographic. Additionally, e& money provides an introductory free card for up to two employees and guarantees the best exchange rate for international transfers, further enhancing financial access for workers.
