His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, made a significant visit to the newly renamed Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi.
This visit underscores the UAE’s commitment to maintaining its position as a premier global travel hub.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE’s strong infrastructure and the dedication of its national workforce, which together ensure the smooth operation of the country’s aviation sector. He praised the ongoing efforts to enhance the UAE’s leadership across various sectors, emphasizing the nation’s unique capabilities and strategic advantages that drive sustainable development.
During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the importance of continuing efforts to elevate the UAE’s global standing and strengthen its development model, which prioritizes human welfare and happiness.
Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed were several high-ranking officials, including Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the UAE. The delegation was briefed on the expansive capabilities of Zayed International Airport, which covers 742,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 45 million passengers annually.
The renaming of the airport pays tribute to the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed, whose visionary leadership significantly boosted the country’s global stature and competitiveness. Sheikh Mohammed toured various parts of the airport, including the Etihad Airways First-Class Lounge. He was also briefed on the impressive Terminal A, which can handle 79 planes simultaneously and 11,000 passengers per hour, solidifying Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global aviation hub.
Sheikh Mohammed commended the sustainability efforts of Terminal A, which boasts advanced infrastructure and state-of-the-art solutions, ensuring a seamless experience for passengers.
The visit also included prominent figures such as Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor of Special Affairs at the Presidential Court and Board Chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports. Several senior officials were also present.
