Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has been awarded the ‘Most Innovative Digital Transformation’ accolade by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs. This recognition highlights DEWA’s exceptional progress in innovation and digital transformation.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, expressed his delight at receiving the award, emphasising that it acknowledges innovations that significantly contribute to government excellence. He noted that such advancements provide sustainable solutions to present and future challenges while transforming them into opportunities for progress and development. Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President of Transmission Power at DEWA, accepted the award on behalf of Al Tayer.
“Under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, innovation has become a fundamental aspect of life and work in both the public and private sectors. It enhances efficiency, accelerates the achievement of national objectives, and drives digital transformation and sustainable development,” said Al Tayer.
“In alignment with the National Strategy for Advanced Innovation, DEWA cultivates a work environment that promotes innovation, offering the necessary resources and tools to transform creative ideas into reality, particularly in sustainability and clean, renewable energy. This supports our vision of becoming a globally leading, sustainable, and innovative corporation committed to achieving net zero by 2050,” he added.
The adoption of these advanced 132/11 kV power substations has reduced construction time by 15% and lowered initial costs by AED 2.7 million per substation. Additionally, each substation has cut carbon emissions by 386 tonnes through a more compact building design, while saving energy has prevented the release of over 54 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, improving overall operational efficiency.
