Dubai has revealed plans to construct more than 17,000 affordable homes as part of a broader initiative to enhance housing, education, and legal services.
During a meeting of the Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum led discussions and approved key initiatives.
These include land allocation for affordable housing, education reforms, and a new licensing model for legal consultants
Sheikh Hamdan emphasised Dubai’s goal of creating inclusive communities and attracting global talent. As part of the Affordable Housing Policy, developers will use 1.46 million square metres of land to build 17,080 residential units.
The Supreme Committee for Urban Planning will oversee the project, supported by key government departments. This initiative aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan to create vibrant communities with better access to services.
Part of the Dubai Education Strategy 2033, it includes modern teaching methods, partnerships with universities, and increased recruitment of Emirati teachers. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) will manage its implementation.
Sheikh Hamdan also approved the Independent Legal Consultant Project, allowing Emiratis to offer legal consultancy without needing a physical office. The pilot phase will cover real estate and personal status law, providing flexible career opportunities. Applicants must have at least two years of experience and complete a training programme.
