H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, presided over a Council meeting.
The meeting was part of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum’s ongoing efforts to oversee Dubai’s judicial initiatives, aimed at reinforcing integrity, transparency, and adherence to the rule of law.
Held at his office, the meeting saw the approval of new judicial appointments at Dubai Courts and the 2025 training plan for judicial authority members. This initiative underscores Sheikh Maktoum’s commitment to equipping judges and prosecutors, particularly younger professionals, with the expertise required to contribute effectively to social stability and progress.
He also sanctioned procedures to extend the tenure of judicial members reaching retirement age, ensuring the judiciary retains experienced professionals and benefits from their expertise.
The Council reviewed a statistical report from its General Secretariat, outlining achievements since its 2021 restructuring. Over four years, 223 research, legislative, and development studies were completed. Judicial-related legislation increased by 86 percent, ensuring full compliance, while judicial appointments more than doubled with new systems in place.
Additionally, the General Secretariat completed eight internal development projects and supported 17 external initiatives, including the Dubai Judicial Inspection Authority’s reforms, the establishment of an Inheritance Court, and the formation of a Board of Commissioners for the Dubai Court of Cassation.
Dr. Abdullah Saif Al-Sabousi, Secretary-General of the Council, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting judicial institutions and enhancing operational and legislative frameworks under Sheikh Maktoum’s guidance. He expressed appreciation for Sheikh Maktoum’s steadfast support and the Council’s collaborative efforts.
The meeting was attended by senior judicial figures, including Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Dr. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, and other Council members.
