Tourism in Germany is experiencing a delightful surge in visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) announced a 15% jump in overnight stays by GCC travellers in 2023 compared to the previous year. This translates to a significant 1,297,256 room nights booked by GCC tourists throughout 2023.
This impressive growth reflects the rising popularity of Germany as a tourist destination for GCC travellers. Yamina Sofo, Director of the GNTO GCC office, credits Germany’s “magnetic appeal” and dedication to hospitality for this success. She highlights the diverse offerings that resonate with GCC tourists, including Germany’s rich cultural tapestry, breathtaking natural landscapes, and commitment to sustainable tourism practices.
This positive trend builds on the previous year’s remarkable growth. In 2022, the number of GCC visitors to Germany more than doubled compared to pre-pandemic figures. This momentum solidifies Germany’s position as a top tourist destination for travelers from the GCC region. The country’s cultural experiences, stunning scenery, and focus on sustainable practices offer a unique and attractive travel option for GCC tourists seeking an enriching getaway.
