Flyadeal, a rapidly growing low-cost airline based in Saudi Arabia, has announced the delivery of its latest Airbus A320neo, marking a significant achievement for the company.
This aircraft is flyadeal’s first to be fully owned by the airline, expanding its fleet to 33 jets from the Airbus A320 family.
Named “Al Sama” after an Arabic star constellation, the new A320neo is expected to enhance flyadeal’s operational capabilities, supporting the airline’s growing network across nearly 30 destinations in Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa.
The delivery ceremony took place in Toulouse and was attended by flyadeal CEO Steven Greenway, Director of Maintenance and Engineering Ahmed Bakadam, and Senior Manager Technical Fleet Ali Alzahrani.
Additionally, Greenway commented, “The addition of our 33rd aircraft marks a significant milestone for flyadeal, as it represents our first fully owned aircraft and the first new addition to our fleet this year. Until now, all flyadeal aircraft have been leased. Acquiring our first fully owned aircraft demonstrates the strength of our business and the market’s confidence in our long-term growth strategy.”
Fruther Plans
He continued, “With a plan to reach approximately 50 aircraft by the end of 2025, doubling to 100 by 2030, we are set for an ambitious delivery schedule in the coming years. This remarkable growth trajectory is driven by strong demand for travel, catering to a diverse range of passengers.”
“The A320 family has performed exceptionally well for us since our launch in 2017, and we are pleased to continue our close collaboration with Airbus to offer our passengers high levels of comfort and convenience aboard one of the world’s most environmentally friendly narrowbody aircraft,” Greenway added.
Moreover, the latest aircraft features a cabin configuration with 186 seats in a 3-3 layout and larger overhead bins than standard.
Last month, flyadeal placed its largest-ever order for Airbus aircraft, comprising 12 A320neos and 39 A321neos, to meet future fleet needs. This strategic move aligns with the airline’s expansion objectives and commitment to maintaining one of the youngest and most eco-friendly fleets in the industry.
