The 6th International Trade Exhibition for Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries, Oman AgroFood 2024, will be held from 2 to 4 December 2024 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre. Organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Wealth, this event aims to bring together government officials, international stakeholders, regional buyers, traders, and technology providers. Through collaboration, the event seeks to drive Oman’s vision for transformative advancements and sustainable growth in agriculture, food production, and fisheries.

The Sultanate of Oman, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, is leading efforts to strengthen food security by promoting research and development in agriculture. Notable initiatives include the establishment of the Oman Seed Bank, aimed at preserving local crop varieties, and the Oman Plant Protection Center, which researches pest and disease management while offering pest control training. Additionally, the Oman Agricultural Research Center focuses on sustainable farming practices such as water-efficient irrigation and drought-resistant crops.

Government efforts also support small and medium enterprises in areas such as medicinal and aromatic plants, while advancing technologies like soilless cultivation and aquaponics. Furthermore, renewable energy solutions, including solar-powered net houses, are being implemented to reduce costs and enhance sustainability.

Oman’s international collaborations, particularly with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), aim to improve fish marketing systems, develop market infrastructure, and create legislation for the fish industry. Oman AgroFood 2024 is poised to showcase these advancements, fostering innovation and growth in key sectors.
