Etihad Airways has commenced operations of its new A380 double-decker service, with its inaugural flight – EY1 – departing from Abu Dhabi to New York and landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday.
The A380 double-decker service includes ‘The Residence’, a renowned and luxurious three-room suite in the sky.
Etihad initiates new New York route
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, expressed confidence that passengers will thoroughly enjoy the exceptional onboard experience offered by the introduction of the A380 service to New York.
“Introducing the A380 on the popular New York route is in line with our strategy to meet the growing demand from customers and expand our network,” he stated.
The launch of the A380 service comes just three weeks after Etihad introduced its new route to Boston, marking the carrier’s fourth gateway in the US.
The addition of the A380 significantly enhances Etihad’s capacity in the crucial US market, providing convenient connections to the wider Middle East and the Indian subcontinent.
This increase in capacity will also facilitate attracting a larger number of visitors to Abu Dhabi.
One of Etihad’s two daily flights to New York will be operated by the A380, while the other will be serviced by a 787-9, offering First, Business, and Economy cabins.
