Emirates has announced the first destinations for its newly retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft. The upgraded planes, featuring the airline’s renowned Premium Economy, will serve Geneva, Tokyo Haneda, and Brussels. This marks the debut of Emirates’ next-generation Business Class seats in a new 1-2-1 configuration on these routes.
Starting today, flights on the revamped Boeing 777 to these cities are available for booking via emirates.com, the Emirates App, or through travel agents. Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Airline, stated, “With the addition of the newly retrofitted Boeing 777s to our fleet, we’re capturing the opportunity to introduce our highly acclaimed products like Premium Economy to more cities already served by this aircraft type in our network, in addition to more seating variety in four classes.” He added, “Borrowing inspiration from our flagship A380 in every cabin, our Boeing 777 with revamped interiors boast the very best in customer comfort and will feature modern design details and signature cabin finishings, with a new Business Class cabin that provides more privacy for our customers, in addition to other thoughtful touches that underscore our exceptional value proposition. Our investment and intense focus on offering the best possible product across every cabin class also ensures we provide a consistent experience on both the Boeing 777s and A380s.”
The first revamped Boeing 777s will commence service as follows:
- EK 83/84 to and from Geneva from August 11
- EK 312/313 to and from Tokyo Haneda from September 1
- EK 183/184 to and from Brussels from September 11
The refurbishment of the first Emirates Boeing 777 will start on July 1, with the process taking about two weeks. The upgrades include a full makeover of the First Class cabin, installation of 38 new Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout, 24 new Premium Economy seats, and 256 Economy Class seats.
The new Business Class seats emphasize personalized privacy and enhanced comfort, converting to flat beds with 20.7-inch wide seats and a 44-inch pitch. The staggered seating arrangement ensures aisle access for every seat, complemented by a touch screen seat controller, a 23-inch HD screen, a personal mini-bar, a large table, ample storage, and charging outlets. Additionally, the Business Class cabin will feature a small bar for mid-flight snacks and refreshments.
In total, 81 Boeing 777s will undergo refurbishment as part of Emirates’ extensive retrofit program, with more destinations to be announced in the coming months. The airline plans to revamp 191 aircraft in total, investing over $3 billion to enhance its in-flight offerings and customer experience.
Currently, Emirates operates refurbished A380 aircraft with Premium Economy to multiple destinations, including New York JFK, Los Angeles, and London Heathrow. The airline aims to offer Premium Economy service to over 36 cities by February 2025, with the A350 joining the fleet in September and more refurbished A380s and Boeing 777s coming online in the near future.
