Emirates airline has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malta Tourism Authority to enhance inbound tourism through joint marketing efforts.
Thierry Aucoc, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations (West) Europe and Americas, and Carlo Micallef, CEO of Malta Tourism Authority, formalised the agreement at ITB Berlin, Germany’s leading travel trade event.
As part of the partnership, Emirates will use its global network to promote Malta as a premier leisure destination. Initiatives will include media familiarisation trips from key markets to showcase the country’s appeal as a Mediterranean hub.
The two parties will also explore joint advertising campaigns and collaborations with tour operators and travel agents to create compelling travel packages.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said the airline has served Malta for over 20 years and remains committed to supporting its tourism sector by leveraging its global reach to drive visitor numbers.
Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Hon. Ian Borg, announced that the agreement strengthens Malta’s strong ties with Emirates and enhances global connectivity. He emphasised that this partnership will boost tourism, attract more international travellers, and support Malta’s strategic position as a key travel destination.
Since launching services to Malta, Emirates has carried over 1.2 million passengers between Dubai and the island nation, boosting connectivity and tourism.
