In a move to solidify Dubai’s status as a premier international hub for resolving commercial disputes, Dubai Courts has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Chambers. This partnership aims to enhance the framework for resolving commercial disputes through mediation and conciliation, fostering an environment of trust and efficiency.
The MoU stipulates that agreements reached under the Dubai Courts System will hold executive power, binding all parties involved, which ensures adherence to the agreed terms. The collaboration will focus on strengthening communication channels to facilitate the exchange of critical legal data and information essential for effective dispute resolution.
Additionally, both organizations will share knowledge in innovation and digital transformation to enhance service excellence.
They will also work together to educate Dubai Chamber of Commerce members on the advantages of amicably resolving commercial disputes. The agreement further emphasizes the importance of studying international best practices in mediation and reconciliation.
His Excellency Prof. Dr. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director of Dubai Courts, remarked, “We at Dubai Courts are pleased to sign the MoU with Dubai Chambers, which represents a fundamental step in our efforts to enhance the position of the Emirate of Dubai as a leading and prestigious global center for settling commercial disputes. This strategic partnership is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the legal infrastructure and intensify digital transformation efforts, in line with the vision of the wise leadership to establish Dubai as the first destination for justice, and enhances our ability to provide a distinguished global model in alternative justice.”
He added, “Through this agreement, Dubai Courts is committed to enhancing cooperation to ensure the integration of efforts and unification of visions to achieve the highest standards of justice. We are working hard to develop judicial work mechanisms based on the best international practices, to ensure the provision of fast and accurate judicial services that keep pace with the needs of the growing business community in Dubai.”
His Excellency expressed optimism that this cooperation will elevate alternative justice practices, emphasizing Dubai Courts’ commitment to fostering an integrated legal environment that drives innovation and contributes to economic growth.
He also viewed the MoU as a pivotal enhancement to Dubai Courts’ ability to provide significant value to businesses and society.
Echoing this sentiment, His Excellency Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, stated, “The sophisticated, efficient, and flexible legislative and legal environment governing Dubai’s business landscape is a key factor in the emirate’s attractiveness among investors and companies from across the globe.”
The mediation services offered by Dubai Chamber of Commerce are designed to be efficient, confidential, and cost-effective, providing a mechanism for maintaining commercial relationships while enabling parties to control the dispute resolution process.
The Dubai Chamber plays a vital role in advocating for Dubai’s business community, aiming to foster a conducive commercial environment that nurtures local businesses. Both Dubai Courts and the Chamber align their efforts with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to double the emirate’s economy in the next decade and position Dubai among the world’s top three cities.
