The UAE showcased its presence at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2024, themed ‘Global Services, Shared Prosperity,’ held in Beijing. The UAE pavilion was inaugurated by key officials including Dr. Abdulrahman Hassan Al Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for IP Rights Sector at the Ministry of Economy, Khaled Mohammed Al Shehhi, Deputy Head of the UAE Mission to China, and Guo Huai Gang, President of the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Beijing. Attending the opening were representatives from various government and private sectors from both nations.
Concurrent with the exhibition, the ‘UAE – Beijing Economic Forum,’ themed ‘Forty Years of Prosperity,’ was hosted, marking the 40th anniversary of UAE-China relations. The Forum addressed strategic partnerships and cooperative policies aimed at enhancing collaboration in technology and the new economy. It also focused on the application of intellectual property (IP) in creative industries and fostered dialogue between governmental and private entities in both countries.
In his address at the Forum, Dr. Al Muaini highlighted the ever-growing bilateral partnership, attributing its success to the mutual commitment of both nations’ leadership.
He noted the significance of the UAE’s participation in both CIFTIS and the economic forum in Beijing, which reflect their shared strategic visions and dedication to developing innovative economic and service solutions.
He stated, “The exhibition is one of the most prominent global events in the services trade, which provides a valuable opportunity to the participating countries to strengthen cooperation in this regard. It is an important platform to promote national industries and services before the international community, especially in manufacturing, technology and innovation sectors and the new economy.” He further acknowledged the role of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in facilitating trade partnerships and enhancing economic cooperation between the UAE and China.
The UAE pavilion aimed to introduce visitors to the country’s appeal as a sustainable destination for diverse economic sectors and services, emphasizing the advantages and incentives available to entrepreneurs and investors, reinforcing its status as a global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The UAE-Beijing Economic Forum also examined collaborative business initiatives under the framework of UAE-China relations, focusing on economic growth on both regional and global scales. The Forum highlighted successful projects in investment, trade, innovation, technology, and energy sectors.
