The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has successfully held the third edition of its Human Resources Forum for 2024, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the local workforce and examining key global trends in talent management.
Taking place at the Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk, the forum revolved around the theme ‘Talent Management and the Future of Human Resources’ and attracted esteemed guests, including His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs; His Excellency Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of DGHR; Abdulaziz Khalid AlJaziri, Deputy CEO and Chief Operations Officer of the Dubai Future Foundation; and Mr. Awadh AlMur, Chief AI Officer and HR Director at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation. The event also saw participation from numerous department directors, section heads, and human resources experts from various sectors within the Dubai Government.
The forum served as an essential platform for attendees to stay informed about the rapid technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).
It focused on the evolving landscape of human resources while discussing emerging trends and best practices that promote the development of skills and competencies among HR professionals.
H.E. Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi underscored the importance of the Human Resources Forum as a comprehensive platform showcasing DGHR’s ongoing dedication to enhancing the professional and intellectual skills of the local workforce. He stated, “The forum further demonstrates the Department’s commitment to nurturing innovative talents and exceptional minds, which is in line with the strategic direction established by the Dubai government to develop a highly competent, flexible, and future-ready workforce. These initiatives support the vision and aspirations of Dubai’s wise leadership, further solidifying the city’s standing as the best place to work, live, and visit.”
“The third edition of the Human Resources Forum for 2024 sought to explore the realms of talent management and the future of human resources. It set forth an ideal platform for conducting meaningful discussions and exchanging ideas with the goal of understanding the trends and best practices for developing talented workers, improving their abilities, and expanding their knowledge horizons. Apart from enhancing their uniqueness, efficacy, and productivity, the Forum aimed to provide employees with a competitive advantage in the labour market during this AI era and rapid technological advancements. The Forum also focuses on exploring the means to leverage existing avenues to forge new pathways that promote development and progress,” he added.
A highlight of the forum was a captivating presentation by His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, who shared his inspiring “Success Story of the Emirati Astronaut.”
He recounted his historic six-month mission in space, a landmark achievement that has further solidified the UAE’s reputation in the field of space exploration as the longest Arab mission to date.
Dr. Al Neyadi emphasised the vision of the UAE’s leadership in promoting the country’s space program, underscoring their belief in the capabilities and intellect of Emirati talent. He reiterated the leadership’s commitment to harnessing all available resources and support to cultivate knowledge and scientific expertise that represent the nation effectively.
In a session titled ‘Talent Management in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,’ Abdulaziz Khalid AlJaziri provided valuable insights into the future of talent management. He discussed how to leverage AI technology for creating high-quality programs and projects, stressing the importance of enhancing the capacities of human resources and empowering talented individuals to adeptly navigate the changes brought about by the present and future.
During a session on ‘The Future of Talent Management: Preparing for a Digitally Powered Workforce,’ Mr. Awadh AlMur shared insights on the necessary preparation of employees for the competitive labour market, underscoring the significance of digital knowledge.
He highlighted the necessity of fostering a flexible workforce capable of adapting to rapid technological and digital advancements, along with identifying and cultivating talent and intellectual capacities.
A panel discussion titled ‘The Future of Human Resources and Talent Management’ featured experts, including Dr. Ebrahim Al Khajeh, the Division Director of Human Resources at Abu Dhabi Customs; Ms. Diala Jarar, Director of the Government Sector at LinkedIn; Ms. Widad Buhannad, Director of Human Resources at the Public Prosecution; and Mr. Laith Najjar, Director of Transformational Projects in Human Resources Department at Oracle. They discussed future prospects in human resource management, key industry practices, and the evolving landscape of talent management.
The forum stands as a testament to DGHR’s unwavering commitment to enhancing human resources and developing workforce capabilities. DGHR’s primary goal is to cultivate specialised skills that drive advancements in the era of AI, essential for maintaining competitiveness and adapting to ongoing global changes.
