ADNOC Gas plc and its subsidiaries have signed a 10-year Heads of Agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for the annual supply of 0.5 million metric tonnes (mmtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This deal further extends the company’s reach in the high-demand Asian LNG market.
Supporting India’s Energy Ambitions
The agreement highlights ADNOC Gas’ increasing role as a dependable global LNG supplier and reinforces its long-term commitment to the Indian energy sector. With this third deal involving Indian entities in the past year—following agreements with Indian Oil Corporation and GAIL India Limited—the UAE continues to deepen strategic energy partnerships with India.
Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas, stated, “This long-term agreement with HPCL, our third with Indian companies in the past year, reflects the robust energy partnership between the UAE and India. This milestone underscores ADNOC Gas’ ability to reliably meet rising global demand for LNG and support India’s ambition to increase natural gas to 15 percent of its primary energy mix by 2030.”
Das Island to Anchor LNG Supply
The LNG for this agreement will be sourced from ADNOC Gas’ Das Island facility, which boasts a production capacity of 6 mmtpa. This site has remained operational for decades and has dispatched over 3,500 LNG shipments globally since inception, positioning it among the world’s longest-running liquefaction plants.
Das Island’s strategic significance lies in its ability to serve multiple export markets while supporting ADNOC’s broader vision. The plant continues to operate efficiently and contributes to ADNOC’s expansion of natural gas production and international LNG exports.
A Pillar in Clean Energy Transition
As global energy markets transition, ADNOC Gas is playing a central role by scaling up cleaner fuel solutions. Natural gas, known for its relatively low carbon emissions compared to other fossil fuels, also serves as a vital feedstock in key industrial processes. As part of ADNOC’s strategic priorities, the company remains focused on enhancing the UAE’s role in meeting international demand for transitional fuels.
This latest agreement underlines both ADNOC Gas’ commercial strength and the growing relevance of LNG in future energy systems, particularly across Asia.
