A dramatic rescue operation unfolded on Abu Dhabi’s Shawamekh Street when a driver found themselves in a terrifying ordeal caused by a malfunctioning cruise control system.
The incident, captured on video and shared by Lieutenant Colonel Nasser Al Saedi, Head of Abu Dhabi Security Media, showcased the swift and skillful intervention of Abu Dhabi Police. The driver, en route to Shahama at midnight, was in a state of panic as their vehicle accelerated uncontrollably.
As the situation escalated, police officers strategically positioned their vehicle in front of the speeding car, attempting to gradually reduce its speed. Despite the driver’s initial fear of triggering airbags, they followed the officer’s instructions. However, the car’s acceleration only intensified, heightening the danger.
Through persistent efforts, the police managed to bring the vehicle to a safe stop, preventing a potential catastrophe. Lieutenant Colonel Al Saedi commended the police force’s rapid response to the emergency.
This is not the first time Abu Dhabi police have intervened in such a crisis. A similar incident involving a malfunctioning cruise control occurred on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road last week.
