Abu Dhabi will impose fines of up to $2,720 on companies that work with social media influencers without the appropriate licences.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has urged all licensed businesses in the Emirate to adhere to the necessary regulations and conditions when engaging social media influencers.
ADDED has commended the efforts of all licensed businesses in the Emirate to foster an ideal economic environment for business operations.

Therefore, ADDED has instructed all licensed businesses in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to follow these guidelines:
Social media influencers must obtain a licence from the department to engage in advertising services online.
Businesses must secure a permit from ADDED for any advertising activities, including advertising, promotional, or marketing efforts.
Businesses must ensure they have a valid licence issued by ADDED when contracting with influencers and social media platforms.
Failure to comply with the regulations and requirements when contracting with social media influencers will result in penalties and violations as outlined in the table of violations, and could lead to the closure of the business for not adhering to ADDED’s circulars and regulations.
According to the circular, penalties will start at AED 3,000 ($817) and can reach up to AED 10,000 ($2,723).
