Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) convened its inaugural meeting of 2024, with H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice Chairman of ADFD’s Board of Directors, presiding over the Executive Committee.
The virtual session saw the participation of key figures including Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, Fares Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Advisor to the Presidential Court, and Executive Committee members, along with Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of ADFD.
Various agenda items were deliberated upon, encompassing project funding requests from developing nations, leading to pivotal decisions, according to Gulf Business.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed acknowledged the unwavering support of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the diligent stewardship of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of ADFD’s Board of Directors. He highlighted their guidance as instrumental in positioning the UAE as a global leader in developmental efforts, fostering prosperity and progress in emerging economies.
He underscored ADFD’s role in fortifying the national economy by enhancing the competitiveness of UAE exports in international markets. Additionally, he lauded the Fund’s support for the domestic private sector, facilitating strategic objectives and avenues for expansion, both locally and globally. These endeavours have significantly propelled foreign trade growth and bolstered businesses, fostering a diverse and sustainable economy in the UAE.
Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi expressed gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed for championing ADFD’s initiatives, enabling strategic expansion of operational activities. He highlighted the Fund’s substantial acceleration in development and investment endeavours, with combined financing and investments exceeding AED 216B, benefiting 106 countries globally. These contributions have solidified the UAE’s position as a leading provider of global development aid.
