The Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry showcased major investment prospects in Mali during the UAE-Mali Business Forum. The event, hosted by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in collaboration with UAE Chambers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed to enhance cooperation between the two nations. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the Federation and Chairman of SCCI, welcomed the Malian trade delegation visiting the UAE from 13 to 18 August.
He praised the growing bilateral relations and highlighted that Mali offers strong opportunities for Emirati investors. These opportunities align with the UAE’s economic diversification goals and span various strategic sectors. Al Owais reaffirmed the commitment of UAE Chambers, particularly the Sharjah Chamber, to promote these opportunities to their business communities. He also underlined the increasing interest of UAE companies in exploring Mali’s investment climate and confirmed plans to strengthen cooperation with Malian counterparts.
Strategic Sectors and Future Plans
Al Owais announced that plans are in place to sign a memorandum of understanding establishing a joint business council. This council will provide a structured platform for direct engagement between private sector representatives. It will focus on sectors such as agriculture, food security, infrastructure, energy, and mining. Expressing optimism, he said the UAE-Mali Business Forum will act as a catalyst for broader trade and investment cooperation.
The Malian delegation, led by Madiou Simpara, President of the Mali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, presented a comprehensive portfolio of investment projects. These include initiatives in renewable energy, artesian wells, infrastructure, and the development of a large commercial complex and a sports facility. Additional opportunities extend to manufacturing, land transport, urban development, and the construction of an international hospital.
Commitment to Expanding Trade Cooperation
Madiou Simpara invited UAE business representatives to visit Mali and assess the promising opportunities first-hand. He stressed that the Mali Chamber aims to strengthen collaboration with UAE chambers across multiple sectors, supporting efforts to advance trade cooperation and reinforce bilateral economic relations.
