The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Republic of Estonia are working to strengthen bilateral cooperation across high-growth sectors. In a recent meeting, both parties expressed interest in expanding trade ties, particularly in areas such as digital innovation and sustainable agriculture.
The discussions took place at the SCCI headquarters, where Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, welcomed Maria Belovas, Ambassador of Estonia to the UAE. She was accompanied by a delegation of Estonian officials. The gathering also included Raghda Hamad Omran Taryam, SCCI Board Member, and Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of the International Relations Department at SCCI.
Shared Goals in Technology and Sustainability
During the meeting, Al Owais highlighted the alignment between Sharjah’s development goals and Estonia’s innovation-driven economy. He emphasised the potential for joint progress in sectors like smart agriculture, food security, and advanced technology. Moreover, he noted that both Sharjah and Estonia prioritise digital transformation, which further strengthens the basis for collaboration.
Al Owais praised the role of the UAE-Estonia Business Council, stating that it serves as a key platform for enhancing business dialogue and cross-border partnerships. This council continues to support networking efforts that benefit both private and public sectors.
The Estonian delegation welcomed Sharjah’s growing interest in technology-focused collaboration. With both economies aiming to adopt future-ready models, stakeholders see substantial room for joint ventures and innovation exchange.
Events and Missions to Support Business Links
To encourage deeper ties, Al Owais extended an invitation to Ambassador Belovas to attend the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show. Scheduled to take place at Expo Centre Sharjah on May 28, the event serves as a major networking opportunity for global investors and brands.
In return, Ambassador Belovas invited SCCI to lead an official trade mission to Estonia. The visit aims to connect Sharjah-based businesses with Estonia’s ecosystem in digital technology, cybersecurity, and startups. The ambassador noted that such exchanges offer valuable insights and open doors to new investment avenues.
As both sides continue to explore shared interests, the meeting reinforced their commitment to building a long-term, innovation-led partnership that supports sustainable economic growth.
