Dubai has been ranked eighth globally and first in the Middle East in the 2024 Global Power City Index (GPCI), marking its second consecutive year in this position.
The annual report by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation highlights Dubai’s leadership in innovation, economic vitality, and global connectivity. It remains the only Middle Eastern city in the top 10, reinforcing its role as a major global hub for business, talent, and investment.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, attributed this success to the visionary leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. “Dubai continues to push boundaries, blending innovation, sustainability, and talent development,” he stated, recognising the contributions of individuals and businesses driving excellence.
Key factors behind Dubai’s success include its world-class infrastructure, progressive legal framework, and strong public-private sector partnerships. These elements have created a dynamic ecosystem for innovation and investment, further consolidating its global position.
The GPCI assesses cities based on their “magnetism” to attract people, capital, and enterprises, measuring six dimensions: Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility. Dubai’s rapid ascent reflects its focus on enhancing quality of life and fostering economic growth, solidifying its status as a city of the future.
