The Ministry of Finance hosted the Financial Media Forum today in Dubai, centred on the theme “Government Financial Data.” This initiative aims to strengthen partnerships with media organisations, acknowledging their essential role in promoting financial literacy and providing insights into the UAE’s economic landscape.
As the UAE experiences rapid economic growth, the forum highlights the Ministry’s commitment to engaging with the media and equipping financial journalists with modern tools to analyse financial data effectively. Key attendees included Azza Ali Aljassmi, Director of Government Communication, and Abeer Ali Al Abdooli, Director of Macroeconomic Fiscal Policy, alongside various financial journalists and experts.
The Ministry views the media as a strategic partner in achieving sustainable development, recognising its role in delivering accurate information about the financial sector. With ongoing economic advancements, clarifying financial concepts and emphasising the media’s role in communicating these ideas is increasingly vital to maintaining the UAE’s competitive position globally.
The forum aimed to create an interactive platform for journalists to understand the UAE’s fiscal policy priorities, including sustainable development and enhancing government financial operations. It also introduced the Ministry’s electronic portal, which serves as a reliable source of financial data and statistics.
The event featured presentations, including a talk by Sahel Al Rousan on “Government Data and Public Financial Awareness,” emphasising the importance of government financial data in shaping media narratives. Another session, “Utilising Financial Data,” involved experts discussing how such data supports policymaking and effective public communication.
The forum concluded with an open session for journalists to engage with speakers, promoting constructive dialogue and knowledge exchange.
