UAE AI firm G42 has partnered with NVIDIA to boost climate technology, focusing on AI solutions to improve global weather forecasting accuracy. Their initial efforts will centre on a square-kilometre resolution weather model for more precise meteorological predictions.
The partnership will also establish a Climate Tech Lab in Abu Dhabi, serving as a research hub. This facility will create bespoke climate solutions by leveraging over 100 petabytes of geophysical data.
Additionally, G42 and NVIDIA will integrate enhanced weather prediction with comprehensive data and visualisation tools, helping organisations worldwide meet sustainability goals through data-driven strategies.
G42, leading the UAE’s AI investment efforts, recently teamed up with Microsoft to build two AI centres in Abu Dhabi following a $1.5B deal. The first centre will focus on AI ethics in the Middle East and Global South. Microsoft will also open its ‘AI for Good Research Lab’ in Abu Dhabi to support social initiatives, including food security and climate resilience.
Abu Dhabi’s MGX also joined forces with BlackRock and Microsoft, launching a $30B fund for AI-based data centres and energy projects, with plans to mobilise up to $100B.
