The World Utilities Congress 2024, scheduled from 16th-18th September in Abu Dhabi, will convene over 300 ministers, CEOs, and global experts to discuss key challenges and advancements in the utilities sector. As the world shifts toward sustainable energy sources, the UAE is leading the way by modernizing its grid infrastructure and enhancing water security measures. The event will showcase the nation’s progress, including its commitment to renewable energy, demand-side management, and forming strategic partnerships.
Hosted by Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Congress will explore the utilities sector’s role in the global energy transition. Themed “Enabling a Secure and Sustainable Utilities Future,” the event is backed by several key organizations, including the UAE Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE).
CEOs from leading energy companies, including TAQA, EDF, Ansaldo Energia, SSE, ENEC, SWPC, and JERA Asia, will address crucial topics such as grid modernization, water scarcity, and renewable energy.
The conference will provide a platform for utilities and their partners to exchange insights and showcase strategies for achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
Fabrizio Fabbri, CEO of Ansaldo Energia SpA, emphasized the importance of addressing global electricity demand, noting, “The future requires flexible, decarbonized energy solutions. Our participation in the Congress is key to sharing insights that meet these challenges.”
Amel Chadli, President of Schneider Electric Gulf Countries, highlighted the region’s leadership in energy transition, stating, “The World Utilities Congress is a vital forum for public-private collaboration to accelerate decarbonization and drive innovation in the energy sector.”
The Congress will feature high-level strategic sessions, technical panels, and an Innovation Theatre, alongside the 6th Arab Water Forum to address water security challenges in the Middle East.
