In a landmark move aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency, Dubai is set to launch a new centralized Unified Population Registry. Announced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, this initiative will revolutionize the way population data is managed and utilized across the emirate.
The resolution, issued on Wednesday, introduces the “Unified Registry of the Population of the Emirate of Dubai,” a digital database designed to provide a single, comprehensive, and real-time source of information on Dubai’s residents. This registry will be integrated into the Dubai Data and Statistics Corporation’s digital platform, positioning it as the sole authoritative source for population data in the emirate.
The new registry aims to significantly improve government operations and service delivery by offering an accurate, up-to-date view of the population.
This real-time data will be crucial in formulating and executing government plans, strategies, and policies. By enabling more precise population forecasting, the registry will support the development of economic and social policies tailored to current and future demographic trends.
The management of the Unified Population Registry will be overseen by the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment. This body will work closely with various government entities to gather and update necessary data, ensuring that the registry remains current and accurate. Additionally, the establishment will design and maintain user guides, integrate the registry with other records, and implement rigorous data security protocols in collaboration with the Dubai Cyber Security Center.
Sheikh Hamdan’s announcement underscores Dubai’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to enhance governance and service delivery. By centralizing population data, the emirate aims to foster more informed decision-making processes and improve the overall efficiency of its public services.
Also this initiative is expected to set a new standard for data management in the region, demonstrating Dubai’s dedication to innovation and excellence in governance.
