On 12 September, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Chinese Premier Li Qiang convened at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi.
Their discussions focused on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and China, with a particular emphasis on economic, political, and cultural collaboration.
Premier Li conveyed greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping, expressing best wishes for the UAE’s continued development and further strengthening of bilateral ties.
Both leaders highlighted the significance of enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, renewable energy, technology, and culture, aiming to align their mutual development ambitions.
China is the UAE’s top trading partner, while the UAE stands as China’s foremost Arab trade ally. In 2023, their non-oil trade amounted to AED 296B. The talks also recognised the UAE’s key role in China’s Belt and Road Initiative, leveraging its location and infrastructure to boost global connectivity.
Premier Li also met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Dubai’s Ruler, at Za’abeel Palace. Their discussions focused on deepening the UAE-China strategic partnership and exploring new opportunities for cooperation.
Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to creating fresh prospects in trade, tourism, and technology.
The visit serves as a major milestone in the 40-year diplomatic relations between the UAE and China, reinforcing their shared goals of peace, development, and prosperity.
