The UAE has launched a system to alert citizens about the dangers of natural disasters and extreme weather events.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) have introduced the “Early Warning System for All,” a digital platform designed to monitor weather conditions and natural disasters. This initiative, born from a partnership between MoFA and NCM, aims to raise awareness among UAE nationals abroad and implement pre-emptive measures during severe natural and climatic disasters, ensuring their safety and security.
The agreement marks a crucial step towards enhanced collaboration between the two entities. It underscores the UAE’s commitment to advancing public safety and security through cutting-edge technology and accurate data, thereby improving crisis management and disaster response capabilities.
The platform facilitates seamless information exchange, enabling swift and effective emergency responses, risk identification, and the development of comprehensive response strategies.
The cooperation agreement was signed by Faisal Eissa Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at MoFA, and Dr Abdullah Ahmed Al Mandous, Director General of NCM and President of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). MoFA teams work tirelessly to ensure the safety of UAE nationals abroad, streamlining procedures and providing assistance during emergencies and crises.
This partnership exemplifies ongoing coordination between the Ministry and relevant bodies, both within and outside the country, with the safety of UAE nationals being a top priority for the nation’s leadership.
