du, part of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), has announced plans to deploy Oracle Alloy for the provision of hyperscale cloud and sovereign AI services to government and public sector bodies in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
The agreement between the two organisations was formalised during the recent AI Retreat, an event supported by Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. This gathering brought together decision-makers, industry leaders, AI experts from both public and private sectors, and global technology leaders to discuss AI strategies, challenges, and opportunities.
du will become the first local provider of hyperscale cloud services to offer a comprehensive suite of over 100 Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services alongside its own value-added cloud services and applications. These offerings will be specifically tailored to meet the unique requirements of the UAE market and various industry sectors, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du, remarked, “The UAE is experiencing rapid growth in cloud services adoption, particularly within the public sector, where organisations are embracing cloud benefits such as agility, efficiency, security, and access to advanced technologies like AI and machine learning. The deployment of Oracle Alloy represents a significant advancement in our journey within the cloud services market, bolstering our managed services portfolio with extensive public cloud capabilities to effectively meet the transformation needs of our customers.”
du intends to utilise Oracle Alloy to accelerate its internal digital transformation and modernise its IT and engineering infrastructure. Through collaboration with Oracle and NVIDIA, du will also deliver sovereign AI capabilities and GPU-as-a-Service to government entities in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. This partnership will enable rapid deployment of advanced AI capabilities, supported by Oracle’s distributed cloud and AI services, in addition to NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform and software.
Nick Redshaw, Senior Vice President of Technology and UAE Country Leader at Oracle, commented, “Oracle Alloy plays a critical role in our distributed cloud strategy, offering flexibility to our partners and customers in building, deploying, and operating cloud services. With du’s extensive customer base and local expertise, they are well positioned to help Dubai and other Emirates governments harness the high performance, flexibility, security, and scalability offered by OCI.”
Operating from its UAE-based data centre, du will enable customers to migrate their systems to the cloud efficiently while maintaining control over operations, location, and security, thereby supporting digital sovereignty.
Oracle remains the sole hyperscaler capable of delivering AI and a comprehensive suite of cloud services across dedicated, public, and hybrid cloud environments worldwide.
