Moviation Inc., a startup in air transportation services based in the Republic of Korea, has introduced the service, presenting a quicker and safer alternative to conventional public transport. The latest on-demand air taxi service, VONAER, offers urban air mobility (UAM) utilising helicopters for ferrying passengers between Incheon International Airport, situated to the west of Seoul, and Jamsil in the eastern part of Seoul, covering an approximate distance of 56.8 kilometres.
Flights will be accessible two weeks following the booking date and will necessitate a minimum of 8-10 passengers for confirmation on the medium-sized Sikorsky S-76C++ aircraft. The single journey fare amounts to 440,000 won ($320), with the journey duration being 20 minutes, in contrast to the approximately one-hour drive from Incheon airport to Jamsil.
The helicopter maintains a speed of 200 kilometres per hour, decelerating to 160 kph when traversing urban areas in Seoul. “Passengers can unwind in the lounge located at the helipad, and utilise the vehicle provided from the helipad to the airport terminal,” stated Moviation CEO Shin Min.
He further mentioned that the company intends to broaden air taxi service routes to other central areas in Seoul, including Yeouido. “Establishing the requisite infrastructure and customer base through helicopter services is imperative to lay the groundwork for the forthcoming UAM era,” he remarked. “VONAER aspires to inaugurate and popularise Korean urban aviation services.”
