Dubai Metro services continue to face disruptions following unprecedented rainfall in the UAE last week. Operations were severely impacted, leaving numerous commuters stranded and causing extensive overcrowding at stations throughout the emirate.
Although the Red Line is now operational in both directions, trains are still not stopping at four stations – Onpassive, Equiti, Al Mashreq, and Energy.
According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Dubai Metro is currently running from Centrepoint to Expo 2020 and UAE exchange stations. Commuters boarding at Centrepoint Metro station are required to transfer at Business Bay or Al Khail stations and then use shuttle buses to reach their final destinations. However, passengers have complained about the irregularity of shuttle bus services, exacerbating their travel difficulties.
Overcrowding was reported at Abu Hail station on Monday morning. Metro authorities instructed passengers to wait at ground level before allowing them onto the platforms, with some commuters waiting over 20 minutes before gaining access.
Meanwhile, there was a significant influx of commuters at Red Business Bay Metro Station (Al Safa side) on the Red Line on Monday morning. Traffic congestion increased on Sheikh Zayed Road near the Al Safa toll gate heading towards the World Trade Centre.
The RTA has advised commuters to follow signage instructions at metro stations and seek assistance from Dubai Metro staff.
