Abu Dhabi is on the brink of achieving a remarkable global milestone as one of its islands gears up to become the world’s first eSports Island, with an estimated investment exceeding $280M.
The brainchild of True Gamers, a leading international network of eSports clubs, the pioneering ‘eSports Island’ project aims to establish a global hub for the gaming industry. It will boast cutting-edge facilities for hosting top-tier gaming tournaments, advanced training venues for elite eSports teams, and dedicated spaces for content creation by influencers and game developers.
True Gamers executives have expressed confidence in Abu Dhabi as the ideal location for this groundbreaking initiative, citing projections of significant eSports growth in the UAE over the next five years, surpassing global standards.
Anton Vasilenko, CEO and co-founder of True Gamers, emphasized the project’s vision to empower gamers, ignite passion for eSports in future generations, and shape the competitive landscape.
With an anticipated investment exceeding $280M, discussions are underway with potential investors to bring the project to life. True Gamers conducted a comprehensive market analysis to inform the development of eSports Island, confident in the viability of the proposed business model, according to Arabian Business.
eSports Tournaments and More
In addition to supporting players of all levels, the project will include children’s eSports camps to nurture the next generation of gaming enthusiasts. The island’s infrastructure, designed by a team of architects led by True Gamers, will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including the ‘Digital Tower’ and the ‘TG Arena’ for hosting international eSports tournaments and conferences.
A dedicated GG Bootcamps section will provide professional players with an optimal environment for tournament preparation. The GG Resort, a luxury hotel within eSports Island, will offer 200 opulent rooms equipped with high-performance computers for an immersive gaming experience.
Having expanded its network to 124 eSports venues since its inception in 2019, True Gamers recently signed an agreement to open 150 new clubs in Saudi Arabia, further solidifying its commitment to the growth of the eSports industry in the region.
