In the coming years, Romania is anticipated to tap into its considerable energy reserves in the Black Sea region, establishing itself as one of Europe’s major sources of sustainable energy for the continent.
The energy potential of the Black Sea, combined with strategic connections to the EU, positions Romania as a potential energy hub.
TAQA Expands Global Energy Initiatives
TAQA’s current feasibility study project represents its second Electricity Transmission initiative beyond the UAE and the third significant HVDC project recently undertaken, according to WAM.
Earlier this year, TAQA allocated GBP 25M (AED 113M) to Xlinks First Limited for laying the world’s longest HVDC subsea cables between the United Kingdom (UK) and Morocco, facilitating the transmission of renewable power to the UK.
In September 2022, TAQA and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) achieved financial closure for a strategic project aimed at delivering 3.2GW of power, leading to a substantial reduction in carbon emissions from ADNOC’s offshore production operations.
This is achieved through the implementation of a groundbreaking HVDC sub-sea transmission network, representing a first-of-its-kind initiative in the MENA region.
