Edge Group, the global defence technology company based in the UAE, has completed the acquisition of a 50% stake in SIATT, a Brazilian expert in smart weapons and high-tech systems. This acquisition was formalized at SIATT’s headquarters in Sao Jose dos Campos, following a cooperation agreement signed by both firms in Rio de Janeiro earlier this year.
This strategic move is part of a co-development agreement between Edge and the Brazilian Navy, focusing on advanced long-range anti-ship missile technology as part of the MANSUP national anti-ship missile project. SIATT is responsible for providing the guidance, navigation, control, and telemetry systems for this project.
Mansour AlMulla, CEO of Edge Group, stated, “As we progress along our Latin America development plan, particularly in the Brazilian market, we are engaged in the development and production of next-generation, high-performance, and competitively priced smart weapons and solutions. Together with SIATT, we aspire to become significant players in the high-tech defence systems market.”
SIATT: Pioneering Smart Weapons Solutions for Defence and Aerospace
SIATT, established in 2015, specializes in integrating systems with a high degree of technological sophistication for the defence and aerospace sectors, according to Gulf Business.
Rogerio Salvador, CEO and one of the founders of SIATT said, “Edge’s investment in our expertise and our renowned capabilities is a testament to the high quality of our products and systems. In turn, it will enable us to benefit from EDGE’s scale and international multi-domain experience to jointly develop the next generation of smart weapons solutions for our respective Armed Forces, and other defence customers. SIATT, as a Brazilian Strategic Defence Company – EED, remains fully committed to contributing to national sovereignty.”
SIATT’s range of products encompasses smart weaponry like missiles and guided munitions, along with their incorporation into aircraft, naval ships, tanks, and various terrestrial vehicles.
SIATT’s Technological Expertise Extends to Radars, Sensors, and Avionics Systems
Furthermore, SIATT demonstrates expertise in technologies related to radars, sensors, and avionics systems, according to Gulf Business.
In different developments, earlier this year, Edge Group secured a 70% interest in Gradeone, a firm headquartered in Abu Dhabi. Grade one specializes in the production of non-lethal pyrotechnics, ammunition, components for defence purposes, and packaging solutions, and engages in defence trading.
