The establishment of the animal protein city in Jazan City for Basic and Transformational Industries was the subject of a joint memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Saudi officials on Sunday.
The National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program on behalf of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) signed the contract with the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY). Through the MoU, the two parties hope to encourage contemporary applications for meat, fish, and crustacean food processing.
According to The Saudi Gazette, it also aims to allow imports to meet local demand and assist collaborative coordination in using techniques for the sustainability of the region’s fisheries and livestock. The MoU also focuses on developing food clusters, supply chain logistical services, and food industry training centers to help entrepreneurs and grow human capacities.
The Kingdom’s ambitious objective of localizing 85% of the food sectors by 2030 will also be met by doing this. Jazan City was chosen to house the new animal protein city’s headquarters owing to its one-of-a-kind perk of having a view of the Red Sea, which links it to many continents and facilitates the entry of Saudi exports to Europe, Africa, and East Asia.
Additionally, this offers the necessary infrastructure for the localization of a variety of value-added manufacturing sectors for the local economy to satisfy both domestic and international demand for high-quality Saudi food products.
