Japan’s benchmark Nikkei stock index crossed the 65,000 mark for the first time on Monday, reaching a new all-time high, according to Kyodo News.
By 11 am, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average had climbed 2,001.65 points, or 3.16 per cent, from Friday to 65,340.72. The broader Topix index also advanced 54.34 points, or 1.40 per cent, to 3,946.80, setting a fresh intraday record high as well.
