Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has awarded the contract for Phase II of the Hessa Street Development, advancing a major infrastructure corridor aimed at supporting the city’s continued urban growth and rising population.
The project spans approximately 3 kilometres between Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Works will include upgrading key intersections, constructing bridges and a 480-metre tunnel, and enhancing access points to improve overall traffic movement along the corridor.
Upon completion, the development will increase Hessa Street’s capacity from 4,000 vehicles per hour to 8,000 vehicles per hour in each direction. The upgrade is expected to reduce average journey times from 24 minutes to just five minutes, significantly easing congestion for surrounding communities.
Officials stated that Phase II builds on the progress of Phase I, which is scheduled for full completion in the first quarter of 2026, forming part of a broader strategy to enhance Dubai’s road network efficiency.
