According to a top official, the World Utilities Congress highlights Abu Dhabi’s expanding worldwide importance and provides an opportunity to enhance the power and water sectors using sustainable and high-tech concepts.
“The Congress symbolises the emirate’s commitment to assisting in the development of a sustainable future.” On the first day in Abu Dhabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) Awaidha Murshed Al Marar said, “Developing the utilities sector and embracing advanced technology and digital transformation is essential for meeting the emirate’s future water and electricity needs, as well as enhancing energy efficiency and increasing clean energy’s share of the energy mix.”
Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, is the patron of the three-day Congress.
“The conference is an essential opportunity to share experiences and learn about the newest worldwide trends in order to improve water and energy services and keep up with increased demand,” said Al Marar.
He stated that the Department of Energy is trying to strengthen the industry and improve supply security while also preserving natural resources and optimising usage to enable long-term economic growth.
“This goal cannot be met without the development of sophisticated facilities to offer water and electricity services that support the emirate’s energy transformation process.”
With over 10,000 worldwide utility professionals expected to attend, Al Marar stated that the conference would focus on methods to expand the sector through advanced technology and digitisation in the emirate, the UAE, and the rest of the world.
