UAEV, the UAE’s first government-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging network, will introduce new tariffs for charging services starting in January 2025.
This follows the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure’s announcement of new pricing measures earlier this year, marking a key step towards enhancing the network’s sustainability and scalability.
Since the tariffs were announced in May, EV charging services have been free of charge.
This transitional phase allowed UAEV to optimise operations while ensuring fair access for users. With the new tariffs set to begin in January, EV users will face transparent and standardised pricing.
The tariffs will be Dhs1.2 per kWh (plus VAT) for DC chargers and Dhs0.70 per kWh (plus VAT) for AC chargers.
The new pricing structure ensures fair and consistent fees, addressing the growing demand for EV infrastructure in the UAE, while supporting the operational efficiency of UAEV’s network.
UAEV to launch mobile app
Alongside the new tariffs, UAEV is introducing a range of user-focused innovations to enhance the EV experience.
A new mobile application will simplify finding charging stations, tracking real-time availability, and facilitating seamless payments.
A 24/7 call centre will also be available to provide continuous user support, ensuring a smooth charging experience at all times.
Sharif Al Olama, Chairman of UAEV, stated, “This marks a transformative step in the UAE’s journey towards sustainable transport. The implementation of standardised tariffs and innovations like the UAEV app and 24/7 support reflects our commitment to improving the EV driver experience. By expanding our network and aligning with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, we are driving a cleaner, greener future.”
UAEV plans to expand its network to 1,000 strategically located chargers across urban hubs, highways, and key transit points by 2030.
