His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC), hailed the decision of the UAE Cabinet chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to approve the National Sports Strategy 2031.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed expressed that the new strategy highlights the leadership’s significant emphasis on fostering the sports sector’s expansion and its contribution to the nation’s progress and well-being, according to WAM.
He commended the strategy, which aims to implement 17 initiatives in the coming years. These initiatives include nurturing sports professionals, identifying talented athletes in schools, improving sports education methods, strengthening sector regulations, and increasing the percentage of the population engaged in diverse sports to 71%.
He also emphasized the alignment between the endeavour to enhance sports professionals and the National Olympic Committee’s (NOC) preparations of athletes for significant regional and international competitions, following the established criteria by the Committee.
Additionally, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed highlighted the pivotal role played by the Committee in elevating the percentage of the population engaged in various sports to 71% by 2031. He further acknowledged the NOC’s introduction of numerous initiatives aimed at fostering sports within the community.
