Abu Dhabi-based technology group G42, alongside a consortium including FPT Corporation and Viet Thai Group, has entered into an agreement to advance sovereign AI capabilities and cloud infrastructure across Vietnam, the company announced on Monday.
The framework cooperation agreement, supported by a committed investment of USD1B, will see the deployment of cloud capacity across three data centre sites nationwide, according to an official statement.
The initiative is designed to align with Vietnam’s goal of becoming an AI-native society and a leading artificial intelligence hub in Southeast Asia, while safeguarding national data sovereignty and strengthening digital resilience, G42 said.
Vietnamese state media previously reported that the partners were also planning the development of a USD2B hyperscale data centre in Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s primary commercial hub.
