The UAE’s Federal Tax Authority (FTA) is urging Corporate Taxpayers to adhere to application deadlines to avoid penalties.
The FTA has specifically called on Resident Juridical Persons with Licences issued in May to submit their Corporate Tax registration applications by July 31, 2024. This requirement is in line with Federal Tax Authority Decision No. 3 of 2024, which outlines the timelines for registration of Taxable Persons under Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022 on Corporate Tax, effective from March 1, 2024.
Importance of Meeting Deadlines
The FTA has stressed the importance of compliance with registration deadlines to avoid administrative penalties. These deadlines have been communicated through various official media platforms, including print, visual, and audio media, as well as the FTA’s social media channels and direct outreach to registered company owners.
Categories and Compliance
The registration deadlines apply to both juridical and natural persons, including Resident and Non-Resident Persons in the UAE. Detailed information on these deadlines, along with relevant decisions and public clarifications, can be accessed on the FTA’s official website.
Registration Requirements
According to the FTA’s Public Clarification on Registration Timelines, any Resident Juridical Person established before March 1, 2024, must submit their tax registration applications based on the month their Licence was issued. Juridical persons with expired Licences on March 1, 2024, must also register based on the original issuance month. For those holding multiple Licences, the earliest issuance date must be used.
Digital Platform for Registration
To facilitate the registration process, the FTA advises using the “EmaraTax” digital tax services platform, available 24/7. This platform allows users to create a new profile and obtain a tax registration number conveniently via email and phone. Additionally, direct services are available through accredited tax agents listed on the FTA’s website and at government service centres across the UAE.
Documentation and Accuracy
The FTA underscores the necessity of providing accurate information and correctly submitting updated supporting documents with the electronic registration application. Required documents for Corporate Tax registration include the commercial licence, Emirates ID card, passport of the authorised signatory, and proof of authorisation for the signatory.
The FTA’s website features a comprehensive video guide on the registration process through the “EmaraTax” platform, designed according to international best practices to streamline the registration journey, submission of periodic returns, and payment of due taxes for all taxpayer categories in the UAE.
