The UAE government launched a new strategic planning cycle for the Federal Government aimed at achieving the 2031 Vision. The plan places artificial intelligence at the core of government planning, process simplification, resource optimisation, and financial efficiency.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, announced the initiative. He underscored the UAE government’s reliance on proactiveness, future-readiness, and strategic planning as key elements of its governance model.
“We launched the new strategic planning cycle for the Federal Government for 2031. This plan prioritises artificial intelligence in planning, simplifying processes, optimising resources, and enhancing financial efficiency,” said Sheikh Mohammed, according to a statement issued by the Dubai Media Office.
He explained that while previous government success relied on regulatory strength and comprehensive procedures, today’s success depends on regulatory flexibility, streamlined systems, and intelligent use of resources. He affirmed that although tools and priorities evolve, the government’s commitment to serving the people of the UAE remains unchanged.
The government shortened the strategic planning cycle titled ‘Towards Achieving We the UAE 2031 Vision’ from five years to three. This change enables more frequent updates and ensures greater responsiveness to global developments.
Sheikh Mohammed instructed all ministries and federal entities to incorporate artificial intelligence and emerging technologies into their strategies to accelerate progress towards the goals of ‘We the UAE 2031’.
Several key officials joined the initiative, including Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council; Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; and Huda Al Hashimi, Head of Strategy and Government Innovation.
The planning cycle brings together 38 federal entities. It engages senior government officials, including directors of strategy, future planning, and finance, to ensure alignment and coordinated implementation.
