The UAE’s Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has launched a dedicated initiative aimed at strengthening tax compliance among content creators and social media influencers. This move comes as part of a broader strategy to empower businesses with the tools and knowledge needed for self-compliance with the country’s tax regulations.
The announcement was made during an awareness session organised by the FTA in partnership with the UAE Media Council, with representatives from the New Media Academy also in attendance. The session was designed to guide influencers through the principles of tax compliance and help them understand their obligations within the UAE’s tax framework.
FTA Collaborates with Media Council to Enhance Tax Awareness
During the session, FTA Director-General Khalid Ali Al Bustani emphasised the authority’s commitment to improving tax literacy across all business sectors. He highlighted the importance of continuous engagement with influencers and content creators, noting that many have played a vital role in spreading tax knowledge to wider audiences.

“We are pleased to collaborate with the UAE Media Council for this important awareness session,” said Al Bustani. “This initiative is part of the FTA’s ongoing efforts to engage with influencers and equip them with essential information about tax obligations—not only for their personal compliance but also to accurately share insights with their audiences.”
Al Bustani also introduced the newly developed Moáther Package, which he described as a tailored solution designed specifically for the influencer community. The package includes innovative accounting tools and software solutions created in collaboration with industry partners, enabling content creators to manage tax compliance with greater ease and flexibility.

Al Bustani also acknowledged the increasingly important role influencers play in shaping public awareness of tax practices, recognising them as key partners in the success of several educational campaigns launched over recent years.
Echoing this sentiment, Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, stressed the need for digital creators to remain informed and proactive about their tax responsibilities. “Empowering content creators with tax and legislative knowledge is central to fostering a sustainable and compliant media ecosystem,” Al Shehhi stated. “This session marks a significant step in raising professional awareness and promoting a culture of responsibility among influencers.”
Al Shehhi also noted that the influencer economy is now a cornerstone of the UAE’s dynamic new media landscape. Ensuring these creators have a clear understanding of tax regulations, he explained, is essential for sustaining their business activities within the UAE’s legal framework.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, allowing influencers to raise questions directly to FTA representatives, who offered detailed explanations on compliance measures and clarified various tax procedures.
