The UAE Delegation attended the opening day of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The 2023 delegation includes federal and local government leaders and ministers, as well as businesses and economic figures from the private sector. H.E Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, participated in a session titled “Meeting of the Reskilling Revolution Champions” on the first day of the Forum, where he discussed the impact of technological developments, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the green transition on people’s livelihoods.
Al Falasi emphasised the need of modernising our learning programmes in order to prepare a qualified generation with the necessary skills for the future, emphasising the need for immediate investment in human capital to create a more equitable society. As part of the UAE Pavilion, Ohood Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and The Future, announced the introduction of the Future Possibilities Index, in collaboration with Newsweek Vantage and Horizon Research Group.
The index will focus on identifying future prospects, examining market value, and assessing countries’ readiness for future opportunities in terms of proactive policies, according to WAM flexible legislation, talent readiness, and the general business environment. As part of the UAE participation at Davos 2023 under the slogan “Impossible is Possible”, the UAE Pavilion presented a dialogue session held by the UAE Space Agency entitled “The Future of Our Planet – Low Earth Orbit Politics of the 21st Century”.
In addition, the Pavilion hosted a fireside chat about the Development of Economic Clusters in the UAE, where Badr Al-Olama, Executive Director at the UAE Clusters, Mubadala discussed how economic clusters have helped the UAE by attracting foreign investments and enhancing economic development and diversification. The UAE’s participation in the World Economic Forum’s annual meetings in Davos underlines the country’s commitment to global engagement and its ongoing commitment to achieving economic progress. The Pavilion of the UAE at Davos 2023 intends to emphasise the country’s commitment to strengthening economic links and fostering economic and social prosperity.
