In a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and improving diplomatic education, the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) has formalized a partnership with the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The signing event took place at the Diplomatic Academy in Moscow, attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to Russia.
Commenting on the significance of this partnership, His Excellency Dr. Al Jaber emphasized, “This agreement between the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and the Russian Diplomatic Academy will enhance academic relations and ensure the implementation of diverse academic programmes.”
This agreement signals a mutual commitment to enhancing the professional development of diplomats. The focus will be on upgrading training strategies in key areas such as foreign policy, international relations, law, and political science. It also outlines provisions for sharing educational resources and research, which will enrich the academic offerings of both institutions.
As part of the collaboration, AGDA and the Russian Diplomatic Academy will develop and host joint training programmes for diplomatic personnel. Scholars from both institutions will also be able to participate in events such as conferences, symposia, and roundtable discussions, fostering a spirit of joint research and academic cooperation. These engagements are set to further deepen the professional and scholarly competencies of both academies.
During the visit, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, AGDA’s Deputy General Director, presented a lecture titled “UAE Diplomacy and Leadership” to students of the Russian Diplomatic Academy.
His talk highlighted the UAE’s foreign policy strategy and its increasing role in global affairs. He also touched on the nation’s journey since its founding, stressing the UAE’s ongoing efforts to promote international cooperation.
Reflecting on the new MoU, Dr. Al Dhaheri said: “In an increasingly interconnected world, the exchange of expertise and best practices is essential for advancing the art of diplomacy. This Memorandum of Understanding between AGDA and the Diplomatic Academy of Russia is a strategic move towards mutual enrichment, enabling our diplomats to learn from each other’s experiences and approaches.”
In agreement with this vision, Alexander Yakovenko, Rector of the Russian Diplomatic Academy, stated: “Along with cooperation in the field of advanced training of diplomats, in cooperation with UAE, we will pay great attention to the exchange of opinions and publications on the most pressing issues of the global political agenda. We will share publications and analytics.”
This collaboration highlights the UAE’s ongoing efforts to invest in human capital and intellectual exchange, leveraging educational diplomacy and research to foster stronger international relations.
