Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, arrived in Pakistan on Friday to begin his first official visit to the country, following an invitation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The UAE President was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as Pakistan Air Force fighter jets escorted his aircraft upon its entry into Pakistani airspace, marking the ceremonial welcome.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said the visit is Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s maiden official trip to Pakistan in his role as UAE President, and that he is accompanied by a high-level delegation.
During the visit, the UAE leader is expected to review the full scope of bilateral relations and hold discussions with the Prime Minister on regional and international developments of shared interest.
Officials noted that the visit offers an important opportunity to further strengthen the long-standing and close ties between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Pakistan and the UAE enjoy strong diplomatic, economic and cultural relations, supported by deep historical links and a large Pakistani expatriate community living in the Emirates.
