A $5 billion moon-shaped destination resort created by Canadian architecture firm Moon World Resorts Inc. may soon open in Dubai. The resort, which rises to a height of 735 feet, is planned to be constructed in less than 48 months and is anticipated to host 2.5 million visitors a year.
The ambitious project was first revealed last year, and now its co-founders have admitted they are working diligently to see it through to completion. Although the latter would not be feasible in the UAE, a film deconstructing the resort concept on a brand level says it will feature a nightclub and casino.
A wellness facility, nightclub, space tourism, hospitality, technology, and more are just a few of the industries which Moon is expected to grow the Emirate’s economy through. It will also be surrounded by what is anticipated to be the lunar surface.
A real “lunar colony” is located on the 10-acre surface, which is intended for people interested in space tourism and offers a low-cost entry point. The resort is planned to be developed in 48 months and would have an overall height of 735 feet. It was proposed and co-founded by Sandra G. Matthews and Michael R. Henderson (224 metres).
“MWR is currently organizing a global road-show series for 2023 to introduce Moon to possible regional licensees. One of these shows will take place in the MENA area, maybe in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Other prospective locations include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, according to Henderson. Four Moon destination resorts (also known as regional licenses) are expected to be licenced by MWR, one in each of the following regions: North America, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, and Asia.
